The Backpack of Wings - Modern Mythology is led by two artists Hyeseon Jeong and Seongmin Yuk. The project was supported initially by the Driving The Human initiative supported by the National Academy of Science and Engineering, Forecast, the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design, and ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe.
I collaborated on the project as a mentor to Hyeseon and Seongmin. I joined the team through 2021-2022 and I connected the artists with other members of MPI-AB. We discussed the migration of animals, the technologies used to study animal migration, and the use of migration data for disaster prediction. This exciting project was showcased in Berlin in 2022 and will be on exhibit at ZKM until Nov 26, 2023.
